If your laptop is using older synaptics trackpad, then you should consider updating your drivers. Latest synaptics drivers enables basic multitouch support.

I updated old drivers on my HP 6710b veteran, and give it a try.
Actually, the multitouch support is not very handy at the moment. You can scroll (pan) the 3D scene in Scia Engineer, but it is not that smooth as I would expect. What is nice is scrolling through document.
The magic trick here is, that I can run Scia Engineer placing 3 fingers on trackpad, how cool :)
